Think about this: Your weekly sermons on a beautifully designed and personalized DVD. A DVD ministry can really impact your church for good. I have compiled a list of the top five ways a DVD ministry can be a powerful tool for your church:

1. As a re-teaching of the lesson: Studies have shown that we don’t retain 100% of spoken information, so having DVDs of your Sunday sermon available to your flock allows the lesson to be reiterated and more information to be retained.

2. A powerful takeaway gift for visitors and first-timers: Offering a free DVD with your church’s name and address on it to your church’s visitors and first-time members leaves a long-lasting impression.

3. A simple way to reach many with one: If you have just one person in your church hand out say, 5 DVDs, this is a very easy way to reach many people! You can also encourage your church’s members to pass along messages that touched their heart to someone else,  therefore multiplying your church’s impact with one DVD!

4. As an invitation to visit your church: Leave several DVDs with your church’s name and address on them in places in your community people frequent: the laundromat, for example. Also, showcase your church’s DVDs at your community yardsales, potlucks, and holiday dinners. People will watch your DVD, see the address of your church on it and come to church!

5. A way to expand your ministries: Does your church have ministries such as a women’s ministry, men’s ministry, youth ministry, etc.? Well, you can follow the same steps above only with a DVD series showcasing ministries in your church. And get creative! I found a DVD ministry online while I was browsing the web of an outdoor/hunting ministry.

As you can see, there are many ways you can go about using a DVD ministry as a powerful tool for your church. So, what are you waiting for? Start recording your Sunday sermons and ministries and see your community impacted for Christ!

A Song for Atheists and Christians alike

I enjoyed reading your interpretation, and I can see how you would interpret this song as negative when not viewing it from a Christian standpoint. I view it as hopeful. I think he’s cynical about life in general, the song is called “The Boy Vs. the Cynic” afterall, and he realizes he can’t change EVERYTHING, no one person can. Yet, there is hope for a better future. If you can affect one person, then that person can affect another, and it creates the “ripple” he alludes to in his song. I also think he’s talking about hisself at times in the song, and other times he’s talking about the music industry, and still other times he’s talking about society in general.

Here’s how I interpret the song line by line:

I’ll embrace dreams again when I can breath again
And at that point I won’t be needing them

I agree with your interpretation of this line. I think he’s talking about financial struggle of some sort. The “dream” he has is just being able to breathe and not have to constantly worry about finances. He won’t need the dreams when he can breathe again because he wants to be able to reach out to others and make a difference, and he’ll be able to once he can “breathe.”

It became clear to me that I was fighting a war I couldn’t win
You don’t make it on your own merit
Only royalty inherits the kingdom

The war he can’t win is the battle between good -God and evil- satan. He can’t win the war because God says in the Bible the battle is already won, and “only royalty inherits the kingdom” is saying that it’s all for God’s glory, not his.

And that’s a system good intentions can’t help
Your courage is not good here so don’t try to excel

I think it’s interesting he talks about courage in the next verse. I think the type of courage he is talking about is the courage to stand up for what you believe in.

What a sad day when you realize nothing can change
The revolution didn’t leave you it never came

He can try to change how things are and make a difference, but in the end people will live how they want to live. You can show them a better way, but ultimately the choice is on them.

There will be no parades, no royal balls
Just long days topped off with last calls for alcohol

He’s saying that there’s no time to celebrate, because all his time is invested in staying afloat, referencing the first line in the song. The alcohol line is talking about how alcohol is used in society to drown out one’s sorrows.

Go to sleep wake up and repeat the same routine
Smooth skin dressed with wrinkles and brown eyes with dark rings

He’s cynical about how life seems so routine: go to work, come home, go to sleep, wake up, do it again. Everyone feels like this at times.

And entertainers sing of extremes that don’t exist for you or me
When real life is reality TV no wonder our youth don’t believe in anything

He’s talking about how entertainers sing about elaborate things that the average Joe will never attain no matter how hard he works. Reality TV reemphasizes this ridiculous gluttony. So it’s no wonder so many youth don’t believe in anything real, it’s all about getting money and achieving the unacheivable.

It’s all a joke there are no heroes just those of us with high hopes

Youth view celebrities as “heroes” when they may have done nothing more to contribute to society than release a platinum album. The “real” people are regular people who work 8 hours a day and have high hopes for something more in life.

It’s just not that simple
I’m not trying to save it all I just want to create a ripple

He realizes he can’t save everyone, because it’s not that simple, though he wishes it was.

I also think this line could also be alluding to the music industry. He’s saying “it’s just not that simple” to talk about God and Jesus in a song, because ideas such as greed, money, and sex sell more than ideas of God and Jesus. In a way, it’s like he’s making an excuse for holding back from saying what he really wants to say.

And even if one individual is affected it’s monumental with an unusual perspective
That’s beautiful in essence traditional thinking won’t suggest this
Is life really that precious well yes it is

Here he’s saying that if just one person gets what the song is really saying, then it’s worth it. The “unusual perspective” is the Christian perspective. By saying life is precious, what he’s really saying is that life is so precious because God gave us life.

But there will be no celebrations or congratulations
No pat on the back just your mind intact

Here he’s shifting to talking about people living the Christian life, or if you want to view it from a secular standpoint, just taking “the high road” in general – doing the right thing. You won’t usually get a pat on the back for doing the right thing, but what you will get is a clear mind.

And the freedom to feel your heart beat at the speed of life
Go to sleep tonight knowing you did it right

When you give your life to Christ, you have a light heart. Suddenly you feel more “alive.”

And rest easy outside of a system that resents you for not doing what they expect you to do

Again, he’s talking about a Christian perspective: The world expects you to give into your selfish desires. When you don’t, you can “rest easy” outside of the world system, knowing you’re not living how the world wants you to live, which is selfishly and for yourself.

Psychologically wear you down and then they make the suggestion that you get on a prescription to deal with your depression
Anxious lazy temperamental obese
That’s what money makers like to call a disease
And they’ll be looking for or creating new problems with profitable solutions
To solve them but you won’t get any better you’ll just come back for more
Until your medicine drawer is filled with unreliable cures

If you’re occasionally sad, you suffer from depression. If you’re anxious, you’re ADHD. You get the idea. The world puts a “disease” label on simple things and suggests that taking a pill is the solution, instead of actually dealing with the root problem.

And that’s the way of the beast
And I can’t do nothing about it
I could shout it in a room that’s crowded but I doubt it’d make a difference

The beast is satan, the world, anything that goes against God. Here he’s saying that it doesn’t matter how loud he shouts the truth, the world will drown it out.

Again, though, I think this line could also be talking about the music industry. He could try to get his Christian point across through the vague lines in this song, but unless someone with a Christian perspective hears it, the song’s underlying Christian meaning won’t mean anything.

So ignorance will be my disguise cause 21st century America likes its witchcraft civilized
21st century America likes its witchcraft civilized

When you hear the word witchcraft, you probably think about witches, Harry Potter, things of that nature. Well, I think for the purpose of the song, witchcraft means anything evil and against God. 21st century witchcraft are all those things in the world that are so appealing to people – the desire for money, alcohol, drugs, etc., that they are disguised as harmless and even helpful, as in the case of antidepressants.

Well, that was my interpretation of the song. I also enjoy interpreting song meanings. There’s a website songmeanings.net that was created just for the purpose of interpreting song lyrics.

Let me know what you think about my interpretation.

Worship and Adoration through the lense of Luke 7

“When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.  A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume.  As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.” Luke 7:36-38

This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever read in Scripture. This woman was a known “sinner”. The term sinner here could mean many things, but calling a woman back then a known sinner makes me think she must have been a harlot, or an adultress. I could be wrong but usually in Scripture when you hear of a womans sins its because shes a whoar or an adultress.

This woman does one of the most beautiful acts of love. She kneels at Jesus’ feet and begins to cry. Her tears fall on his feet and she begins to use her hair to wash Jesus’ feet.  She pours out her very heart at His feet and performs an act of humility and adoration.

What I find most intersting about this story is in verse 36 where is says “she learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisees house”. I believe this means she was looking for Him. She was probably asking people where He was. I wonder what had happened in the hours before her encounter with Jesus?  Had she seen Him somewhere? Had she watched Him perform miracles? Had she heard of Him through the grapevine?
I believe she was searching for Him earnestly for the very purpose of seeking out His deep love.
I would LOVE to know what happened in this woman’s life in the hours before her encounter with Jesus. What brought her to that point? What had happened to make her want to change?

This woman was a known sinner in the city, the Pharisee knew who she was. He judged her and couldn’t believe what he saw before him. Verse 39- “When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”

This woman didn’t care what they thought of her, she didn’t care if the religious leaders judged her, she just wanted Jesus.

She wanted His love, His forgiveness! She was desperate for an encounter with the Messiah!
She sought Him out, she came to Him and she poured out all that she had at His feet, going low and washing His feet with her own tears.

The Love of God changes everything! This woman had an encounter with Jesus that, I’m sure, changed her life forever. She was a known sinner in the city and she came to Him for encounter.
LOVE TRIUMPHS OVER JUDGEMENT. The religious Pharisee judged her whereas Jesus loved her. It was LOVE that changed her life.

My Pastor told a story a few weeks ago in Church that reminds me of this story. In the 90’s there was a big revival and people were just coming in off the streets including drunks, prostitutes, pimps, etc and they were actually getting saved! One night during an alter call a prostitute runs to the alter and kneels down and is weeping before the Lord. Obviously, every man in the room was probably struggling with not staring at her as her body was barely covered and was showing skin all over the place. There were a few little old ladies sitting in the back. These women had a choice to make, either get religious like the Pharisee and judge her for her lack of clothing and her lifestyle or they could love her. These little old woman took off their sweaters and walked down to the alter at the front and they created a sort of wall around this young girl with their sweaters. They protected her from judgement. They loved her. They stayed with her in love, protecting her from the judgement and stares and they hid her from it! These little old woman didn’t judge her but they LOVED her.

This woman who came into Jesus at the Pharisees home had to know what she was getting into. Pharisees were super judgemental and critical. She was a sinner, and a  well known one at that. She went into this Pharisees house, expecting the worst from them but expecting love and compassion from Jesus! Jesus showered her with love. He forgave her of her sins! He had compassion on her! He was probably so in adoration of her as she knelt before him, in all of her sin and darkness, and poured out all of her love on Him.

There are quite a few things to be learned from this story.

1. Worship is, as I said in the previous post, not music, or songs. They are expressions of our worship-needed and beautiful, creative reflections of Gods own Creativity.
What this woman did at the feet of Jesus, was pure, unadulterated worship. Intimacy, connection with Him. She didn’t need a song, or musicians or anything.  She just poured out her adoration and love at His feet.
Again, I am not saying Worship Music, or songs, are bad. I am a Worshipper by Heart and I love music and songs and instruments. I am just saying its not all there is.
Learn to do as this woman did. Kneel at His feet and pour out your love on Him! Adore Him! Seek Him out until you find Him!

2. Love and Mercy triumph over Judgement. (James 2:13)
Love people where they are and the way they are! Don’t condemn them! Don’t look down on them because they are “sinners”.
Love them into God’s Kingdom! Have mercy! Cover them in Love rather than judegement, just like those litle ladies at the revival!

Cover their sin with love, not judgement!

Do as Jesus did-He accepted her, He loved her, He forgave Her, He DID NOT judge her.

I will say this: COME AS YOU ARE! HE LOVES YOU AND WILL ACCEPT YOU, FORGIVE YOU AND HAVE MERCY ON YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!

When we Worship are we meaning what were singing?

“Christians don’t tell lies they just go to church and sing them” – A.W. Tozer.

I heard this quote a few months ago and it has stuck in my brain ever since. A.W. Tozer hit a very sensitive subject that the Church needs to recognize and be willing to deal with.

Sunday Morning we come in to our Church, say hello to our close group of friends, settle in our seats while the Pastor welcomes everyone and then we all stand up to sing and worship God.  We sing all of these amazing songs but DO WE MEAN WHAT WE ARE SINGING? Do we even realize the depth of the words we are singing?

Look at songs like “I Love Your Presence” by Bethel. The song is all about being in the presence of God and LOVING it there. When you LOVE something you do everything you can to be invoved. How can you sing this song and only spend time with God on Sundays?

“Where You Go I Go” by Bethel is all about being Christlike-following Christ in Action, Word and Lifestyle. We sing this song but the rest of the week were cussing, lying, manipulating, yelling at our children and calling them names, getting wasted, partying, cheating on your wife, looking at porn, etc.

God is not asking us to be perfect and we are imperfect beings but why sing songs you don’t really mean?
We come into our Churches and sing these amazing songs that are straight from Heaven but do we really mean them? Do we know what we’re even singing sometimes? We sing about being a Child of God but still act like orphans. We sing “He Loves Us” and act like God could never love us.  We sing about Freedom from sin but live our lives bound by sin.

I love the song “Heart of Worship” by Matt Redman. “ITS ALL ABOUT YOU JESUS”.
Worship just is not about us-its completely about surrender and worship to JESUS!

I encourage you, next time youre singing in Worship, really mean the words you are singing and apply them to your life.

Christmas Eve Massacre

Christmas Eve in America…what do you think of?

FAMILY, FRIENDS, PARTIES, DECORATING, CHRISTMAS COOKIES, CHILDLIKE EXCITEMENT, BEING WITH LOVED ONES, CHRISTMAS STORIES AND LOVE.

Christmas Eve in Nigeria? Bombings, Religious Persecution and Death.

On Christmas Eve at least 35 people were killed with at least 52 wounded as radical Muslims launched attacks all across Nigeria throughout the night.

This is the 2nd year in a row Islamic radicals have tried to install the Sharia Law by bombings on Christmas Eve in Nigeria.

The dead will be buried in “Mass Burials” since all bodies were charred and beyond recognition.

Senator Mark sympathized with the families of the victims of the bomb blasts, saying that government would ensure that they did not die in vain. He also urged security operatives to redouble their efforts, to contain the situation, stressing that the National Assembly would collaborate with the executive arm of government  to ensure security of lives and property across the country.

Also, Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, feared that the unabated bombings in Nigeria might throw the country into conflicts if not checked.

Adoption- is it for Christians?

Many people have the mindset that adoption isn’t for everyone. Which it isn’t. However, if you are a Christian it is for you. God has adopted us all into His family. He has billions and trillions of children.
In (Exodus 1:15-22). Jochebed took a basket, waterproofed it, and sent the baby down the river in the basket. One of Pharaoh’s daughters spotted the basket and retrieved the child. She eventually adopted him into the royal family and gave him the name Moses. He went on to become a faithful and blessed servant of God (Exodus 2:1-10).

What does the Bible say about adoption?

From: http://www.gotquestions.org/adoption.html

Question: “What does the Bible say about adoption?”

Answer: Giving children up for adoption can be a loving alternative for parents who may, for various reasons, be unable to care for their own children. It can also be an answer to prayer for many couples who have not been able to have children of their own. Adoption is, for some, a calling to multiply their impact as parents by expanding their family with children who are not their own, biologically. Adoption is spoken of favorably throughout Scripture.

The book of Exodus tells the story of a Hebrew woman named Jochebed who bore a son during a time when Pharaoh had ordered all Hebrew male infants to be put to death (Exodus 1:15-22).

In the book of Esther, a beautiful girl named Esther, who was adopted by her cousin after her parents’ death, became a queen, and God used her to bring deliverance to the Jewish people. In the New Testament, Jesus Christ was conceived through the Holy Spirit instead of through the seed of a man (Matthew 1:18). He was “adopted” and raised by His mother’s husband, Joseph, who took Jesus as his own child.
Once we give our hearts to Christ, believing and trusting in Him alone for salvation, God says we become part of His family—not through the natural process of human conception, but through adoption. “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship [adoption]. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father’” (Romans 8:15). Similarly, bringing a person into a family by means of adoption is done by choice and out of love. “His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave Him great pleasure” (Ephesians 1:5). As God adopts those who receive Christ as Savior into His spiritual family, so should we all prayerfully consider adopting children into our own physical families.Clearly adoption—both in the physical sense and in the spiritual sense—is shown in a favorable light in Scripture. Both those who adopt and those who are adopted are receiving a tremendous blessing, a privilege exemplified by our adoption into God’s family.

Child Loss, Adoption, and God’s Plan

Christian families come in all different sizes, races, and backgrounds. They all go through trials and tribulations that sometimes may seem too daunting to overcome, but they always stay strong. A lot of Christian families will turn to adoption to save children from otherwise unfortunate circumstances. Some families can’t prevent certain circumstances and end up losing their child and are left with a lot of questions.
I knew a Christian family who dealt with the issue of losing not just one child, but two children. It was a heart-wrenching affair that turned their lives upside down. They were adamant Christians who constantly were striving to be the best they could for God. They volunteered at a local soup kitchen, and even got their kids to participate. They did all they could to provide for their kids, but show them the values of charity. One somber day they lost their children in an accident to a drunk driver. The biggest question they had was why it was them, and why God did not instead take their lives. No parent ever wants to be the one to bury their children, and the funeral was a sordid affair for all. Weeping, the parents managed to speak their beautifully written eulogy about their two children. Months passed and throughout them the parents were surrounded by church members who comforted them. They struggled still with this huge loss, but managed to overcome it. Not with help from people – though it was helpful – but through constant prayer and devotion to God, for they knew his plan would lead them through this seemingly endless dark valley. And he did, and they had another child, despite their fears, who has grown with them and been a beacon of hope for the parents, and a gift from God in their lives.

The Struggles of a family and God’s plan for them.

The next family I knew were also struggling, but with something completely different. The wife of a good man I knew from church was unable to have children. This hit the family hard, for they were extremely excited to have children. They prayed constantly for a miracle from God that they could somehow conceive a child. It seemed to be all-for-not though, for months passed with no sign of a pregnancy. The family was broken, and beaten by the demons casting doubt over their want of a good family. Then, by some stroke of God, they happened upon a woman who had just joined the church and befriended her. It turns out this woman was a worker for an adoption agency that specializes in finding homes for less-fortunate children in Africa. What a blessing that was! After a few months of waiting, paper work, and red tape, they finally received their adopted child. A small, skinny girl of only two years age. The girl was a sweetheart who turned into the kindest child. Just another example of how God can work in many ways.
These are but two stories of how God can help families who are struggling. Be it through spiritual healing or coincidences so odd they have to be given to the glory of the All Mighty. There are families still struggling though everyday with the same problems mentioned before, and it seems they will never get out. But if they are true to God and have hope that he will help them through whatever it is that they are experiencing, they will be rewarded, just as God says.

Anguish in the Church

What does it mean to be Anguished?
– excruciating or acute distress, suffering, or pain
– to suffer, feel, or exhibit anguish
- extreme pain or misery; mental or physical torture

Anguish is not a word we hear in the Church. David Wilkerson tackles a topic most churches are afraid of dealing with.

For too long the Church has mirrored the World. We allow sin in our leadership, sin in our congregations and sin in our churches without calling it sin and dealing with it.

Where is the anguish in the Church? Why are Christians staying in their Churches while the world is going to hell? Why are we content with our programs and our little “church lives” and we forget that the world is going to hell?

David Wilkerson calls the Church to rise up! To begin to fast and pray and stop focusing on Christian fluff-the programs, the agendas.  We have to take on the heart of God for the churches, our cities, our families and our world that is going to hell. We need to stop hiding behind the light and fluffy side of Christianity and preach the truth as David Wilkerson does. There IS a HELL, and it is REAL and if Christians don’t step up and do what we were commanded to do, then HELL will be reality for everyone.

As David say, “The hour is getting late and its getting serious. Does it matter to you at all that God’s spiritual Jerusalem, the Church, is now married to the world?”

We are in a critical time in History. Time for Christians to stop playing Church, conference hopping, etc. The Church has gotten so self-centered. We think about how we can grow the Church-but for what reason? So that you have a mega-church with lots of people or is it about making a name for yourself? Its sad when the World looks at the Church and doesn’t see a difference between the world and the Church. Why do you think the world hates Christians? Theres a reason for it.

Why is the Church so obsessed with agends? Where is the weeping at the altar? Where are the mothers and fathers weeping over their lost children? Where are the Pastors anguished over the sheep that leave the Church and join the World?  Where are the Leaders who weep over young adults and teens who are running in the world and are on their way to hell?

We spend hours in front of TV, Social Networks and socializing with our friends….but where is our time in prayer for those who need it?

Christan Movies

The Christmas Holiday has made its fast approach since Thanksgiving ended. More Christmas albums, and a lot of TV channels with Christmas-themed movies and shows. Here is a great list of movies to watch this Christmas, both about Christmas, and Christian movies in general that will warm your heart with the upcoming joyous holiday!

Some movies aren’t in theatres, but you can always find the best on TV. Cable TV is a Christmas movie lover’s dream. Lifetime, Hallmark, and ABC Family all have Christmas movie marathons, and they all produce their own Christmas movies to boot.

A great christian movie that revolves around Christmas is “The Heart Of Christmas.” The world is filled with tragic stories, and stories that will make great movies. Ask anyone around you. We all know someone whose story should be a feature film. The stuff of real life makes for better drama than anything we can make up. The challenge, then, for the filmmaker, is to take that story and make it into a great film. THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS isn’t a great film. It’s a great story.

Veggie Tales: The Little Drummer Boy is a great children’s film for the whole family. In this Veggie-version of a holiday classic, Junior Asparagus stars as The Little Drummer Boy, a lonely child who finds the true meaning of Christmas when he stumbles upon the birth of the baby Jesus. A story of generosity, hope, and love, this timeless tale will warm the hearts of children everywhere!

Another solid family film that is not necessarily about Christmas, but is still a great Christian film, is “Courageous”. Courageous takes us into the lives of several families – normal families that we might encounter on any given day. In one family, we see a workaholic father who no longer seems to be able to find common ground with his teenage son. In another family, we see the struggles of a newly-divorced father. In yet another family, we see a dad who worries about the choices his teenage daughter might make when an older troubled boy seeks to date her. In still another family, we see a single dad who has never made any type of connection with his little daughter, not even in the form of helping to support her, financially or otherwise. In the final family, we see a dad who has just lost his job and wonders how he will support his wife and young children. These families could be like families we know and that is one of the many strong points of this movie – it’s so identifiable.

Finally, the latest movie, which is secular, but has a good meaning, is “Arthur Christmas.” While it may not show Christianity’s true belief of Christmas, it could open up doors for adults to speak with their children about the true meaning of Christmas. Filled with laughs and a great story “Arthur Christmas” is wholesome fun for the whole family.

While there are countless movies out there this season, the few listed here are great for a family wishing to divert from the obvious Christmas classics that can be found on cable TV. With a lot of variety, your family could easily spend the next few weeks leading up to Christmas indulging in great movies that everyone will love, and that will leave a big impact on your family this season.

Media Ministry: God’s Word For All Time and Forever

Media Ministry: God’s Word For All Time and Forever

#God’s Word, #Bible, #Powerful, #Life-Changing, #Truth, #Absolute

What does God’s Word mean to you?

Have you recently experienced the impact of its power?

Absolute Truth. I just heard a testimony of a formerly unsaved person tell about his first experience with hearing a bit of God’s Word. He immediately knew it was either the absolute Truth, or an outright pack of deceptive lies. There was NO middle ground! Yes! That’s the decisive aspect of God’s Word.

Life Forever. The decisive part of God’s Word brings all unsaved people to another function of it. For those who call upon the Lord for forgiveness of sins and new spiritual life, it bridges them across an otherwise great impassable gulf from hell to heaven and death to life. As Jesus says, “He that hears My Word, and believes on the Father who sent Me, that person has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24). The Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63).

Life-Problem Solving. I also just heard a testimony of a pastor who gives a certain instruction to everyone who wishes to makes a counseling appointment with him. He tells them that for one week he prescribes daily heavy doses of God’s Word. They are to immerse themselves in God’s Word for one weekthen call him back for an appointment. The pastor reports that 80% of those people never need to make the counseling appointment. Yes! That’s the life correcting and sustaining power of God’s Word.

Ultimate Discernment. God’s Word provides discernment for knowing what is Truth from deceptions of evil throughout one’s life to stay straight with the Lord. That discernment goes so deep and is so powerful that it is sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12).

Genius-Level Wisdom. God’s Word gives the highest, ultimate levels of wisdom. “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom.” (Colossians 3:16)

Richard and other #atheist people think that #God is unfair because he hides himself and then asks us to believe.  #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist say: if only #God would show himself, people would not have to go to hell for unbelief – many say this is unfair of God so they don’t want to believe #DWG

#atheist say: look around-people who trust in #God struggle and people who don’t believe in God flourish.  Surely, #God either doesn’t exist or is unfair.  #DWG

What does scripture say about #God -why can’t we see him?  #atheist #DWG

Every decision about how creation would be was also a decision on how creation would not be.  Fish having scales meant no fur. #atheist #DWG

By making decisions about creation, #God limited the world to what is and not to the thousands of other possibilities. #atheist #DWG

#God was like a father who loved his newborn bald, helpless, wrinkled, toothless son and was proud like Dad when Jr. takes the first faltering step #atheist #DWG

Adam Eve rebelled against #God.  Scripture says God felt:  sadness, anger, even alarm.  When our child leaves home in rebellion, we feel the same #atheist #DWG

In His omnipotence #God created man with free will and surrendered Himself to the pain that occurred through man’s rebellion. #atheist #DWG

#atheist assume we’ll BELIEVE what God says IF we see him. No! Adam Eve saw #God face to face chose to NOT believe-“you’ll die if you EAT of the tree” #DWG

#atheist, what is the ‘plot’ of Genesis? “God learns how it feels to be a parent.” When Adam sinned, God met with him told him about consequences #DWG

#atheist #God was engaged in the affairs of men after Adam.  And, humans created hell on earth rejected Him, doing continual evil #DWG

#atheist the people #God made put a knife in His stomach and twisted it. God destroyed them all.  All except Noah.  #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist B/c Noah was faithful to God, #God promised to not again destroy all mankind and living things with water.  #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist #God hates evil-but-b/c He loved Noah- he limited himself- choosing to wait like the Prodigal Son’s dad for mankind to come to Him. #DWG

#atheist If you can see, #God is not cold and uncaring–but limits his omnipotence time and again because of his love for mankind #DWG

#atheist Can you see – people saw God do many things and they still rebelled.  Seeing #God and BELIEVING what God says is not the same.  #DWG

#atheist Can you see? When God is hidden unseen it does not ‘consign’ us to a life of unbelief – indeed those who saw God easily fell into rebellion #DWG

#atheist When #God intervened in the lives of men and punished their rebellion, no one said, “He is hidden or silent.” #DWG

#atheist After Noah, #God took a new approach asked people to believe when they had NO reason to believe.  He promised a son to Abraham #DWG

#atheist Abraham Sarah were too old 4 children when Isaac–the son #God promised-was born.  They lived by faith in the promise received the promise #DWG

#atheist after Abraham #God continued to ask people to believe in him by faith.  Many times he no longer spoke to ppl face to face but in other ways, including dreams #DWG

#atheist Joseph was a slave because his brothers were jealous and sold him into slavery.  Have you had any experiences that are that bad? #DWG

#atheist, Joseph was a righteous slave.  The woman who owned him made sexual advances he resisted.  She saw to it that he went to jail. #DWG

#atheist When Joseph was in jail because he resisted sexual advances, do you think he felt that #God was unfair?  Silent? Hidden? #DWG

#atheist Joseph believed #God.  In the end, God used Joseph to save Egypt from famine.  #DWG

#atheist If you think of #God as a parent- you understand that parents ‘pull back’ to allow their children to grow up!  #God is our father. #DWG

#atheist Joseph-through his trials- learned NOT that #God would prevent trials, but that he would redeem THROUGH trials. #DWG

#atheist Joseph-through choking back tears, explained to his traitor brothers “What you meant for evil, God intended for good.” #DWG

#atheist The central idea of the Old Testament is the loneliness of #God. –Chesterton #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus #DWG

Part 2 Disappointment with God

#atheist Are you Disappointed with God b/c IF He exists He is Silent and Hidden? #DWG

Richard wrote a Christian book. When #God disappointed him, Richard became an #atheist #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Richard, like you assumed that #God should not disappoint us, be silent and hidden.  #DWG #Jesus #jesustweeters

#atheist There was a time in history when #God was neither silent OR hidden!   This chapter in the mini-tweet series will examine that time #DWG

#atheist Genesis ends with a tiny family who knew #God going to Egypt to escape famine.  Their few names are recorded in the Bible. #DWG

#atheist then next Bible book, Exodus opens with the people of #God – large in number now in slavery in Egypt.   They’d been there for 400 years! #DWG #jesustweeters #Jesus

#atheist There are no sermons preached on the 400 years #God’s people were in Egypt!  When God is silent, could it be that silence causes disappointment?

#atheist Certainly God’s people were disappointed when #God was silent for twice the number of years that the US has been a nation. #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Things changed for God’s people when Moses came on the scene.   God was no longer silent or hidden!   This chapter will examine what happened.

#atheist When Moses came, God said, “You have suffered long enough.  Now you will see what I can do!”  God showed his power.  #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist In the days of Moses God’s power was seen on a scale so massive that no one in Egypt missed it.  #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Moses requested of Pharaoh to let the people of #God leave.  Pharaoh would not comply.  God gave Egypt a reason to listen to Him. #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Pharaoh and the people of Egypt saw billions of frogs, gnats, flies, hailstones and locusts.  #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Pharaoh had a hard heart just like many of you.  He refused to listen to #God.  So, God kept escalating His voice #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist This message is a gentle call to listen to word about #God.  If you don’t – death WILL occur, just as it occurred in Egypt.  #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist When Pharaoh would not listen let God’s people go, he sent the angel of death.  Every first born Egyptian died. #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist I believe that if Pharaoh had refused to listen again, every Egyptian would have died. #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Be warned, you will not escape God’s voice; you will die and then you will KNOW God. #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

So, #atheist Pharaoh let the people of #God leave.  For 40 years they He led them with a pillar of cloud and fire #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist the response of the people of #God to seeing Him offers important insight into the inherent limits of power on the heart of man #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Power can do many things:  concentration camps used power to make people renounce #God, kill and bury friends family

#atheist   Power can do many things, but it cannot control love.  You cannot force people to love you. #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist The fact that love does not operate to the rules of power can help explain why God sometimes seems shy to use His power #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist God showed his power by leading His people in the days of Moses and immediately His people began to rebel, big rebellions #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Seeing God, being led by #God did not bring about love and faithfulness in His people #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Those impressive displays of #God’s power that YOU ask for will NOT bring you to love #God  #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist KNOWING #God exists without loving or serving Him does not benefit YOU, God or anyone else #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Just as love complicates every life, existence for #God is complicated for God because He desires our love His power doesn’t foster love #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist When God’s love is spurned, the Lord of the Universe FEELS in some way helpless, like a parent who loses his child just as love complicates every life #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist This diary shows His love for His People: On the day you were born, no one cut your cord or washed you to make you clean contd #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist continued You were thrown into an open field.  You were despised.  I passed by and saw you kicking in your blood. contd #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist continued I said to you, “LIVE!” I made you grow. You were a beautiful jewel with long hair, naked breast contd #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist continued I saw you were old enough for love. I covered your nakedness with my garment and made a covenant with you contd #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist continued I washed you, anointed you, clothed you with a beautiful dress, shoes and jewelry and put a crown on your head #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist When God led his people out of Egypt He gave them a bittersweet song about favored times then betrayal, then curses and afflictions #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist #God’s presence pervaded every aspect of His people’s lives:  sex, diet, clothing.  Being his chosen people was hard.  #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist the closer #God was to people paradoxically, the more distant they felt from Him.  Listen to their words: contd #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist continued:  “Let us not hear the voice of the Lord our God nor see his great fire anymore or we will die!” contd #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist continued: “Who of us can dwell with a consuming fire?” #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

#atheist Is it possible that we should be GRATEFUL for #God’s hiddenness?  Is it possible that seeing God face to face would not be to YOUR liking? #DWG #jesustweeters #God #Jesus

Are We Living A Christ Centered And Kingdom Focused Life?

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all of these things will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

Can we measure or identify the Kingdom of God by earthly means, as in what we eat or drink or surface things like that? The kingdom of God is not to be found in meat and drink, it is found in righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Romans 14:7)

It is measured in righteousness because Jesus came so that, if we walk in the Spirit and not our flesh, we might be able, through Him, to fulfill the righteous standards and principles of the law, which, in our own selves, we could never do. (Romans 8:1-4).

It is measured in joy because, through the Word of God, and the words of Jesus Christ to His People, His joy might remain in us and our joy in Him might be full. (John 15:11)

It is measured in peace because Jesus Christ gives us His peace, not the kind that the world gives (peace through conquering), but the kind of peace that allows us not to be troubled in our hearts, no matter what is happening around us. (John 14:7)

Are we walking in the righteousness of the law, instead of the letter of the law? Are we in the Spirit, which brings us life, instead of trying to follow the letter of the law, which leads to death? (2 Corinthians 3:6) We know this, that the whole culmination of the law is to love (Romans 13:10), therefore the first greatest commandment is to love God and the second is to love others as you love yourself. (Matthew 22:37-39) THIS is the “righteousness of the law” fulfilled!

Are we walking in the joy of the Lord, which is our strength, (Psalm 28:7) joy that comes because we have been ransomed by God to be partakers of His Zion? (Isaiah 35:10) Our ultimate joy will come when we hear the voice of Christ, as a groom coming to meet his bride in the wedding ceremony, when the bride hears him speak and has great joy. (John 3:29) So we joy in the coming of Christ, not only in the culmination of the ages, but in our hearts right now, because He is our Lord, (Hebrews 12:2) even when we face many troubles and trials. (James 1:2)

Are we walking in peace by being in harmony with fellow Believers and being of one mind, knowing that God is a God of peace? (2 Corinthians 13:11) Are we being peacemakers for God, so that we can reap a harvest of righteousness? (James 3:18) If we do not walk in the way of peace there will be no justice among us, and if there is no justice among us, how can we expect there to be justice in the world around us? (Isaiah 59:8)

Jesus said that we must be converted and become as children in our faith (Matthew 18:3), and indeed conversion was preached by the Apostles (Acts 3:19), not some watered down “gospel” of salvation from death without being saved from the LAW of sin and death! (Romans 8:2, 1 Corinthians 15:56) To be converted means to make Jesus Christ the center of your life, as your Lord and Savior, the Lord who Saves you, and nothing less than this will do! (John 10:27, John 12:26, Matthew 10:38, Mark 8:34)

Reaching Teen Girls with Gods Love

Love. We live in a world obsessed with it. From the movies, to music, to our conversations with each other, we all talk about LOVE. We all want it and need it.

A few months ago I was sitting at Night and Day Coffee with my friend Amanda drinking coffee, each on our own laptops with our own thoughts and both watching these two young teenage girls across from us and I was totally eavesdropping. The one girl looked at this piece of jewelery for sale and I heard he say, “OMG! It says LOVE, I need this!” As I watched her pine over this bracelet I could see this sadness in her face, a NEED for love.

The last few years I have seen it over and over again young teen girls (around here girls get pregnant at age 13 and many have 2 kids by their senior year in High School) looking for real LOVE and finding it in the wrong places. They look to boys for love. Last night Amanda and I were watching “Morning Glory” and Amanda commented, “Did you ever notice in the movies how these women/girls think sex is the key to love? They have sex with the hot leading man and THEN they are in love and THEN they break up later.” This is interesting…Hollywood is selling women and girls the idea that sex is love. You have sex with a man and he will “love” you. These teen girls see women in movies ALL THE TIME giving it up on the first date or within a few days of meeting the guy (Titanic, 27 Dresses, Morning Glory, 10 Things I Hate About You, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, the Notebook, Knocked Up, Monster in Law, etc etc etc). It glamorizes sex and makes sex look like the KEY to finding true love. Very rarely do they show the downside of sex (Riding in Cars with Boys) such as teen pregnancy and STD’s.

When I was a Youth Leader I saw alot of girls who were being sexually active as teens that were abused in some form. They had either been raped, sexually assaulted, come from broken families with either one parents or parents who just didnt care what they did, or had no dad in their lives. So these girls would look to boys to fill the void. These girls are looking for love and will do whatever it takes to find it. I was watching a documentary on prostitution and how all these young girls in the hood (12-18 year old girls especially). These young girls talk about their lives and how they have no daddies, no one who truly loves them so when a guy (who is actually a pimp) promises to love them and take care of them they jump on it! They want to be loved, valued and protected so much.
In this world love has become such a polluted word. Love has become an obsession. We see it everywhere, fake forms of love promoting pre-marital sex, finding love whether it be same gender or not, commercials encouraging girls to never be satisfied with themselves and to lose weight and do all these things THEN a guy will love them.

We hear Pop Artists singing about sex and love like it is a casual thing, no big deal. Who cares if you get pregnant??? Sex means love and that’s what matters. We see movies encouraging teen drug use, alcohol abuse and sex at age 15. We have TV shows glamorizing sex and making teen girls feel like they are missing something without it. Teenage girls want LOVE. Girls look to boys to fill a void that maybe their dad never filled. They want love. A boy tells them that having sex with him is love, of course they will do it. I know too many teen girls who have told me they regretted having sex in High School because all it has done is make them the “school whore” because they are trying to find someone who will love them when all that really happened was them feeling used and neglected and depressed and dealing with self-hatred.

What can we do to change this mindset? What can we do in a world filling young girls minds with glamorized sex and hollow “love” relationships? WE HAVE TO SHOW THEM TRUE LOVE. God has been really challenging me lately to just love people. Meet them where they are.
God’s love is PURE, ATTRACTIVE, AND FULFILLING. We need to reach the world with that love.

The only fulfilling love is Gods and as Christians we should be full of it, we should be overflowing with it. We need to be lavishing Gods love on people. The world is looking for LOVE. The world needs Love. Christians have access to the most fulfilling love that the world craves. Its not about preaching a message and getting someone to say a prayer. Its about LOVING people to Christ. Showing them this love through your life and making them want it and to understand it.
Love people. We get so focused on just getting people to say a prayer but if they dont have an understanding of Gods love then what good is it?

DONT GET ME WRONG…Getting people saved IS extremely important but its not about shoving the Bible down their throats, its about loving them to the Kingdom. Be love, Live Love.

Teen girls (and boys) need us as Christians to counteract this worldly obsession with “love” with true love, Gods love.

We have to show them. If we dont show them how will they know? We have to show these girls that they are worth more, valued more and loved by God more than any man would be able to give them.

Youth-How to keep them involved in Church

Ive been working with youth since I was 17. Ive been privileged to work with some fantastic kids who I have helped and who have also helped me. And after talking with some of them I am realizing that a main reason kids arent wanting to be in church is because they have nothing to do. The dont feel they anyone really cares they are there. They feel like people jsut want to lecture and control them.

Giving your teenagers a place to serve in the church will make them feel like they are needed, like they are valued, that they are wanted in the church. One idea I have is to once a month give the service over to the Youth Directors and Youth Group. Let them run the service. Worship, Sermon, Prayer at the end, everything. These are our future leaders and we want them to stay in the church and serving as leaders to the kids coming up after them. After talking with a bunch of teenagers I have come to the conclusion that the reason alot of teens are leaving the church and not coming back is because:

1. They don’t feel needed

2. They are bored

3. They don’t see the point

4. They “have better things to do than sit around for 2 hours”

5. They have a negative view towards Christians and the Church

Here are some ideas to answer those 5 points above:

—————Post Continues—————-

1. Make them feel needed! -Get them involved: Youth Sunday, events, let them do the offering, let them join the Worship Teams, let them serve in their giftings (find out what they are), find out those who have Leadership Abilities and form them into a Youth Council. (Youth Council is a team of youth who have Leadership abilities, let them help plan events, lead Youth Worship, help make decisions concerning the youth group, etc.)

2. Make church exciting! No one wants to be bored at church, not just the youth. Make Worship louder! Turn up the sound system! When preaching be animated. Remember youre not just preachinng to 40 year old adults, you are also preaching to 15 year old kids who want to learn too! When you preach, use powerpoints, videos, good examples, make the message on their level and don’t drag it on forever or you will lose them. Also, have alter calls just for the youth. Let the church pray over the youth, let the youth pray for the church members as well!

3. Help them understand why it is important for them to be at your church.Sign them up with a Mentor, whether it is someone on your Leadership team or someone in the congregation. Pray for a revelation of the awesomeness of God for them!

4. Help them to understand that church can be fun! They aren’t just sitting around! When preaching (as I said above), dont just teach to the adults! If you have alot of youth, have a youth church! Many churches are doing this and are getting more teens to come to their churches becuse they have a ministry just for teenagers on Sunday mornings!

5. Help them understand that you are not there to judge them, belittle them or talk down to them. They have a negative attitude more than likely because they have been hurt/annoyed by a/many Christian (s). Your church needs to turn that idea around and give them unconditional love. Accept them as they are…piercings, tattoos, emo clothes and crazy haircuts and skinny jeans. Love them exactly where they are, dont keep trying to change everything about them. Love them right where they are!

Some of the kids I talked to said they just want to do soemthing. Many teenagers nowadays are really into music! Let them form a youth band(s). Find out where your youth are gifted and write it down and find somewhere for them to serve!

These are just some ideas and some tricks Ive learned in my few years of youth ministry. Hope they are helpful!
